Just a bit of history before we get to this story: Yes. This really happened to me today. I am NOT kidding you, nor am I sugar-coating this. I hope I don’t get in trouble for posting the fact that I got summoned to jury duty on my blog, but I won’t be releasing any more information besides just that. I promise.

Here’s the story, after the jump. You can also read more info on what’s happening to this blog when I go on my mission soon at the bottom.

Today, I went to work just like usual. I was somewhat busy tagging new inventory and reorganizing the existing shelf space in preparation for our big spring sale on Friday and Saturday. I was expecting that I would possibly be getting my mission call today in the mail, as it had been two weeks (ish) since I got an interview with my Stake President.

After I left work, I grabbed myself a bite to eat, and headed to my church building, where I was going to participate in our Wednesday search and rescue activity. My mother, Dana, is part of the leadership over the Young Women in our ward, and was preparing something for their activity in the gym area at the same church building. I said hello, and she said hello back. She also told me the news I was somewhat expecting to hear:

Dana: You got something in the mail today.

Me: Oh boy. Is it an eviction notice?? (I was joking around)

Dana: Nope, you’ve been summoned to jury duty.

Now at this point, I just thought she was joking back at me, so I was laughing along with her, thinking it was a joke.

Me: So wait, is it really what I think it is.

Dana: No! You got called to jury duty!!

Me: Oh, no way. You’re joking!

Dana: No, I’m serious! You really did get called to jury duty!

Me: I can’t believe…

So that’s right. I was expecting my mission call to show up in the mail today. Indeed, I got a call, but it was not for a mission. It was for jury duty.

Could this be a sign from God?

I think this mission is going to be really interesting.

IMPORTANT CHOWDERBLOG NEWS:

Alright, if you don’t get the scoop from the story above, indeed, I will be going on a mission for the LDS church soon. I’ll still be keeping this blog up to date until I start getting ready to physically leave Boise. This blog will go on a hiatus type thing while I’m gone. I’ve already got another mission blog set up for when I’m gone. Blogging is truly awesome! I’m flipping blog-happy!! :D

I’d like to thank all those folks out there who put up with my random ramblings, even when they don’t make much sense, and I’d like to especially thank Treasured Valley for featuring this blog on their site. I really do appreciate it, thanks TdV! (you should also check out Treasured Valley, it rocks.)
