This was shown on Boise State Fiesta Bowl 2010’s Facebook page, a story of Eastern Washington University’s plans to make red artificial turf a reality in their football stadium. It’s hoped that this will be completely funded and completed in time for the 2010 football season. EWU’s athletic director even mentioned Boise State and their blue field in this article:

"There is no doubt that one of Boise State’s claim to fame has been their blue turf and like it or dislike it, it has certainly brought them a tremendous amount of notoriety," said Chaves. "In a similar vein we have a tremendous opportunity at Eastern to do the same by differentiating ourselves with the red turf while providing a superior playing surface."

Eastern Washington University Athletic Director Bill Chaves

More after the jump.

C’mon, can any station here in Boise start cranking out local newscasts in high definition?? In most other media markets, usually 2 or 3 local stations pipe out local news in at least 720p. But in Boise, the closest thing we have to HD local news is KTVB’s widescreen news. Is it HD? Nope. But does it look better on my HDTV than any other newscast? Absolutely. Between KTVB’s familiar faces, great graphics/logo package, popular website, and the fact they were the first to take the widescreen step, I’d love to see channel 7 start presenting local news in high definition. That’s also why I’d venture to guess that KTVB would indeed be the first station here to take that expensive HD step. But that’s not the only reason I’d like to see more local programming in high-def. Let’s not forget the Broncos.

And people may wonder, why do I, Chowder, dislike hate the Idaho Statesman? Here’s one reason…

It’s apparent they either have a lack of spell check, or their review team is in sleep mode:

Foootball Boncos Crop

The Idaho Statesman: Idaho’s #1 Source for BONCO FOOOTBALL News!

But that’s not the only reason I hate the Statesman… perhaps I’ll rant about that later.

I’ve always been a fan of both Jay Leno and Conan O’Brien… I’d watch the Tonight Show with Jay after the local news, I enjoyed his monologue and the special pieces (headlines, jaywalking, etc). Conan was just a very funny, energetic and perky guy who never ceased to make me laugh. Now, I’m forced to make a choice:

Team CoCo or Team Leno?

In the good old elementary school days, I learned the magical script of cursive. Along the same lines, remember when they had you learn to put a “monkey tail” on the letters? I never did, and my teachers always got upset when I didn’t use those silly primate apparatuses in my writing.

Besides for signatures, do you ever use cursive very much anymore?

It seems a slew of businesses here in the Boise area are shutting their doors… which obviously leads to more unemployment. My goodness, why can’t we get our crap together! Is this the change we’ve all been waiting for?! Holy crap.

You know…

I’ve never laughed so hard in a LONG time until tonight… hehe, I just found out one of my best friends kicked a midget on accident during school. And that same friend got hit in the face with a bouncy ball that was thrown from behind her, and bounced off the wall in front of her.

Also, Los Betos is good. The California burrito is to DIE FOR!!! They have a few locations across the area, one in Garden City by Reel Theaters Northgate, one by the freeway on Eagle Road, and one by the Idaho Center near Sonic. Open 24 hours. Good stuff.

More crap coming soon… and here’s a goat that screams like a man.

AT&T vs. Verizon…

Dear AT&T,

I’m sorry that the truth hurts.

*sheds imaginary tear*

If you haven’t heard, AT&T is suing Verizon Wireless over it’s “there’s a map for that” campaign, which is a clever parody of AT&T/iPhone’s “there’s an app for that” commercials. You can just flip on the television and see Verizon and AT&T blasting each other in a good amount of different commercials. Watching the Rose Bowl and the Sugar Bowl on ABC and FOX respectively, I’ve seen tons of them! As a regular human being (not a paid PR person or Verizon / AT&T employee) I need to break the truth about it all.

Twitter Homepage Facebook and Twitter are growing at a fast pace, and it’s more than just people who are taking advantage of these networks. Businesses, celebrities, corporations and brand names are using FB and Twitter to their advantage. As for myself, I create and manage Facebook pages and Twitter accounts for businesses and websites, as well as my personal Facebook account. If you’ve ever considered using a Twitter/Facebook Client to update pages on the fly, I’d say, go for it. It’s very easy. I’m going to go through a select few clients to point out the good and bad for each…
